"The Electoral Commission has announced that "hostile actors" hacked its systems as part of a "complex" cyber attack and successfully gained access.
In a statement, the elections watchdog said the hack was first identified in October 2022, but said it has since become clear that the malicious actors first gained access in August 2021."
