A bit of a niche subject.
There's been a spate of a particular news pattern.
1. Violent Crime.
2. Social media surge attributing the offence to "them".
3. Later investigation and conviction of somebody who looks like the media posters in #2.

Bloke clearly had issues, and belonged on a care programme.
But unwittingly served his purpose in the culture war.

We'll soon get the sentencing for the former commando who crashed his car into 140 people at a Liverpool football parade.
I recall social media being full of apologists after the event.
Now we have a guilty plea, neighbours saying "He never seemed the type" and a hefty sentence.

Doubtless sentencing will be followed by "two tier Kier" posts.

There's a predictable cycle to all this.

Mainstream report of crime - Social media speculates it's one of "them" again.

Suspect apprehended - Social media "Why don't they tell us who it is?".

Charges brought, identity revealed.
If it's not "one of them" - social media starts the whole mitigation campaign.

Months later sentencing - Social media is silent.

Yeah even people get caught in this, apparently someone was swearing blind that the Liverpool one was provoked, evidently it just seems he was a fucking moron, thankfully no one died.

Initially, the someone was him. The prosecution didn't find it credible, though.

I've still not seen a report on him using a negative tone. Remarkable considering among other charges, he has pleaded guilty to attempted GBH of a 6 month baby. "nice guy" "family man" "former marine" "climbed Kilimanjaro" "hardworking". The list goes on. All designed from the "look he deserves sympathy" angle. Sick of reading about how his neighbours like him. Means fuck all, there are DV perpetrators all across the land who have a nice guy/gal public persona. What he did was outright wicked. You don't need to be an FBI profiler to conclude he almost certainly had another side to him. Anyway, he's a cunt who will hopefully get an appropriate custodial sentence.
