Didn’t they already try and get the case struck out ?

It looks as though Trump has been simply deploying his usual tactic of threatening to sue for billions but counting on the defendant to settle out of court for a large sum before it reaches the court. The BBC is looks pretty solid in its. intent to defend Trump’s action. I can envisage Trump dropping the action before Feb 2027.

Wouldn’t it be nifty if Auntie Beeb brought a counter action against Trump, though ?

Trump's currently huffing and puffing with threats to sue Trevor Noah. For making a joke about him and Esptein at the Grammys.

There will be various tests the case has to meet at different stages, I should think. So there will probably more chances.

Lots of his supporters seriously see "free speech" as being a reason to vote for him. What can you do about this stuff?

I gather it wants to remove emissions controls on American motor vehicles "to make them cheaper". They'll still be shit and unsaleable outside the US (except to the mentally deficient) but I suppose it'll appeal to the children who never grew out of going "brrrm! brrrm!" in their pedal cars.

I'm trying to remember the name of a film where Dennis Farina asks "does the sun ever shine in this town?" (commenting on the smog) and gets the reply "no, but we have the most beautiful sunsets."

I'm thinking of the bit in Robocop where the hostage taker demands a getaway car:
Something with reclining leather seats, that goes really fast and gets really shitty gas mileage!

Trump lashes out at California governor’s green energy deal with UK
President says it is inappropriate for UK to be dealing with Gavin Newsom after Ed Miliband meets governor in London
What happened to states' rights? Oh, they only apply when a Democrat is in the White House. Biden seemed to cope with Republican governors signing deals with the UK government.

In an intervention that is likely to be clocked by British government officials wary of potential new landmines in the UK’s relationship with the White House,

This belongs in the 'Guardian's turned to shite' thread. 'Clocked' and 'government officials' leaves a lot to the imagination.
Anyway, fuck landmines. We know how Trump views countries and people who make concessions, suckers.

In the general scheme of Trump's "interventions", this is very mild. I think we can safely ignore it. But I think it's actually an improvement for the Guardian to notice some difficulties, instead of the usual stuff about how we should be running a Hugh Grant in Love Actually foreign policy.

Deals? Liz Truss jollied around friendly Republican states, got her photo taken, and celebrated Memoranda of Understanding as if she had single-handedly won the Champion's League.

Yeah, not particularly large states in some cases either. Indiana. Oklahoma and South Carolina signed them. This helped Truss get elected leader/PM.

I see this Government has signed some with Blue States. I follow politics quite a bit and I hadn't heard a word about this brilliant, buccaneering deals with fast growing economies across the word. Funny that.
