I expect you've all seen the clips of Michael Martin defending Starmer at the White House yesterday.

As if the sight of a Taoiseach defending the British Prime Minister against the US President on St Patrick's Day wasn't astonishing enough, I've found out about a couple of other things that happened.

Trump managed to misgender the Irish President, to Trump's addled brain someone called Catherine Connolly is self-evidently male.

Not content with that, Trump went on to tell the Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, Emma Little-Pengelly, that Irish unity would be a good idea. That's Emma Little-Pengelly of the DUP.
Maybe Trump had Little-Pengelly confused with the First Minister of Northern Ireland, Michelle O'Neal, who is of course very much in favour of Irish unity, but she was boycotting the event because of Trump's illegal war in Iran.

So that all went splendidly well.
