US President Donald Trump has endorsed a former top adviser to ex-British PM David Cameron for governor of California, shaking up an unusually unpredictable race in the heavily Democratic state.

In a Truth Social post, Trump declared Republican candidate Steve Hilton would "be a great governor". The president argued that "Democrats have done an absolutely horrendous job" in California and that "people are fleeing" the state.
Am I correct in thinking CA has a greater GDP than many countries? Must be doing something right there.

There has been a recent population drain from Commiefornia  largely down to the cost of living & rocketing house prices, but other than say Texas and New York pretty much any other state in the US would love to have an economny & existininal crises like California. IIRC if California declared independence it would overnight have the sixth largest economny in the world.

Well, here's a surprise.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgqk4kyj4yvo

The US Supreme Court has paved the way for Steve Bannon's contempt of Congress conviction to be thrown out, sending the case back to a lower court where it is likely to be dismissed.

Bannon, one of Trump's most prominent backers, was convicted in 2022 for refusing to respond to lawmakers' subpoenas for information about the January 2021 Capitol riot.

The Trump administration had asked the Supreme Court to dismiss Bannon's case in "the interests of justice".

California’s population is growing again, and GDP per per capita has done really well.

The biggest problem with it, as you say, high house prices. This leads to the dire homelessness situation in its big cities which I think costs Democrats votes all over the city country. I wonder if the other stuff that people say about it has much effect..

Trump's a fucking looney who is endangering the entire planet and making the lives of ordinary people (but not mega-rich people) everywhere considerable worse - for years to come. Surely this is indisputable now?
But will Vance and the rest of the spineless USA cabinet do the needful and remove him using the 25th amendment?

Don't hold your fucking breath.

Of course not. His pronouncements - and their effect upon the stock market - are making them very, very rich. Why kill this goose that lays many a golden egg?

And don't forget the Fundie creeps who genuinely believe he will bring about The Rapture - they're praying and hoping for it.

Cunt'll probably celebrate the 250th with nuclear fireworks.

"A whole civilisation will die tonight."

As I turn in, I don't think that I have ever encountered such a chilling and evil utterance.
