Not three months after Farage was elected at the '24 General Election, he claimed that he had "been advised" (though he did not say exactly who advised him) not to hold face-to-face advice sessions for his constituents in Clacton (you know, like proper MPs do) for "security reasons".

Social media algorithms are so powerful. Whilst being really useful on YouTube for discovering new channels on topics that interest you, if a young person clicks on a far right video, even thumbnailed and titled in a non-political guise (poverty porn is often an "in" or starting place for far right YouTubers-Billy Moores is a good example), then whether they are logged in or as a "guest", they will be flooded with far right video recommendations. This makes them think everyone thinks like this. Far right stuff gets really hefty viewing figures. Clearing cookies even as a "guest" proves as futile as spraying Febreze outside Chernobyl. Only a long long time of not clicking on a topic will make them disappear as recommendations.

In the post-match euphoria of Thursday night I was talking to a friend's son, presumably in his mid-twenties.
