For a giggle, I typed "London Bridge" into Twitter to see what happened. Oh, lummee.

Best one being that missing an event that you wouldn't normally miss in a billion years in mid November with the excuse of a bad back, never being seen again, and then popping off a few weeks later is EXACTLY what happened to, er, Terry Wogan, and so this is obviously what is happening now.

Wherever he is, I can only assume the Togmeister is impressed that he is a trendsetter for Her Majesty.

She'll probably be playing scrum half for Wasps next week.

Thinking about it, Brian was probably feeling a wee bit eemosh as this national remembrance day - with no Brenda - was rather like a dress rehearsal for when Brenda croaks and he finally officially gets the job he’s been waiting for for fifty-odd years. It might well be the last such event during which Brenda is still drawing breath - even if she was actually curled up in front of the telly with a box of Milk Tray instead of being stood on the balcony of the Foreign Office observing the solemnities.

The prospect of his dear old mam turning up her toes and him getting to be King Brian simultaneously must provoke very mixed emotions. Who can blame the old fucker for having a bit of a quivering lip?

This is pretty much what I think. The queen has always regarded this as the most important event in her calendar and he can't but be aware that it won't be long before her absence from it is permanent - indeed, the odds on her being at next year's must be fairly lengthy whether she's still here or not. It will have been a massively poignant occasion for him and in the circumstances he can be excused the odd tear and shaky lip.

A suprsingly contrite speech at Barbados's royal piss off ceremony. The Queen praises the island for its dancing and cricket.

The Prince of Wales has formally acknowledged "the appalling atrocity of slavery" in the Caribbean, saying "it forever stains our history" at an event to mark Barbados becoming a republic.

Charles summed up the period when the UK was one of the leading players in the transatlantic slave trade as the "darkest days of our past", but looking to the future said the "creation of this republic offers a new beginning".

Mrs A went to Wimbledon today and reports that there were massive queues for the walk-in centre, and I hear that others had big queues by 7:30am.

The public, by and very large, are not of the Tory headbanger persuasion.

Is that the one in Centre Court shopping centre? I had my booster there last month and the whilst the queue was sizable (mostly due to the request that those jabbed wait 15 minutes before being released) it was a fairly slick operation, I can only imagine the stress and pressure the poor souls in there are under now.

Unrelated to Brenda's decision, I cancelled a trip up to Leeds to see my sister to prioritize spending Christmas with our father. A bag of pork toenails washed down with a pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord can wait until things have become a bit more sensible again.

Yes it is, and when I was there last Friday the queues were very large and they were taking appointments only after about 11am.

Incidentally, when we were working that day all but one customer was masked, the exception being male, east European and very macho. The twat.

Brenda has undoubtedly played a blinder on this. She's apparently still unsure about the right thing to do on Christmas Day itself, as are we all.

Interesting to note that the Mail wasn't accepting comments on their story reporting her decision. I suspect that a horde of knuckleheads calling Her Maj woke, weak, easily scared, whatever, was even too much for them to accept.
