Reminds me of a thing Stephen Fry wrote, about how education should be about fostering a love of discovery and learning, rather than hitting arbitrary targets. All well and good, but being able to ace it on QI isn't quite as important as knowing your way around MS Office.

Can't comment on specialness of the North compared with eg The Oval, but he's got a point here. Southampton over Old Trafford/ Headingley looks wrong, not just in terms of simple geography but in terms of big cricket areas.

I believe it to be in the Danelaw, therefore North. At least until 918CE, which is pretty recent for a medievalist.
