"Not for the likes of us", along with - as far as I can tell - urban Yorkshire, all of Lancashire, Leicester, Warwick, Rugby, Gloucester, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham (and the west Midlands in general), Nottingham, basically anywhere with an impressive population density and more than one type of restaurant.

I’m not up to speed on current trans debates but I do remember sympathetic documentaries and even informative Sunday tabloid articles explaining why people change sex over 40 years ago when I was a kid. Badenoch is a very nasty piece of work.

She is one of the most fundamentally ignorant, unpleasant and bigoted members of this shitty government. When you filter every MP through the Brexit shibboleth this is what you get. Government by the lowest denominator. Intellectual incompetence.

Can't get a Canada style deal with Canada, as some wit pointed out.

Kemi's doing well with Tory members, as Truss did in the same job, but I think overpromising on economic benefits of Brexit is a big factor in the disaffection of so many people.

She's like Finchy from The Office, swan in, tell some great tales from the road, hope nobody looks too closely at your sales figures.

This is very much a US Right thing- going after fact checkers. Not that Edwin Hayward is one of those anyway.

The Tories renamed their own feed "UKFactCheck" in 2019.

“Self proclaimed fact checkers”, you mean someone like, oh I don’t know, the IMF, or the OBR, or some such

It's a US meme, where the Right got worried about sites like this, which got a fair amount of traction.

https://www.factcheck.org/

These are typically well-sourced. The Right just goes "yeah factcheck.org, sure!", whoever the source is. I suppose our equivalent would be Full Fact.

Edwin Hayward (who she's talking about there) isn't a fact checker really. Just someone on the internet who says stuff she doesn't like and has a lot of followers. It's not like there aren't people on the right who do the same (sometimes with correct facts, sometimes not). It would seem pretty odd to me if a member of the Shadow Cabinet was spending time on stuff like this. The internet, man.

It's the Trumpian Fake News idea - say it's untrue and your supporters won't believe the evidence in front of them.

And keep moving the goalposts and changing the rules until your opponents give up trying to keep up. Then say you've won.
