Whatever is in the deal, Ed "Mad Dog" Davey would have got a better one.

He'll have his day later in the year when the EU signs a better deal than the UK. But might contain stuff he's huffing about presently so wiser to pipe down for now.

Trump hates the EU and China even more than he hates everyone else, and doesn't really care about economic damage to his voters. So the EU deal may take a while. I think the EU will do a deal with India fairly soon that is better.

So, seems like the deal doesn't have chlorinated chicken or scrapping the digital services tax in it.

See what it actually says. BTL Guardian have seen it and it definitely says all sorts of bad shit because Starmer hates the EU.

Chris Mason has. Thinks it's a killer point that the position hasn't improved the terms as they were before all this extra shit was piled on. The Tories have duly picked that up and run with it.

Some unusually good theatre over these trade deals has been created by this government that faced justifiable criticism for its poor comms. But the story here is Trump's retreat after contracting the economy (even his harshest critics didn't predict it was that bad). Meanwhile fuelled by the tumbling Dollar providing cheaper energy, even the Eurozone is looking forward to growth and there should be little reason the UK won't follow suit.
It's great news the RoW is missing a bullet from Trump's shenanigans and isn't the sharp shooting gun slinger he thinks he is. More like Jon Pertwee as the sheriff in Carry on Cowboy.

David Henig reckons Trump's been dazzled by some not particularly important tariffs being cut. Doubtless the concession on premium beef (13,000 tonnes) sounds like a lot to him too.

Farmers perhaps not surprisingly think they're taking one for the team. I don't know if the Tories will have the nerve to push that after the damage they did with Brexit, but they probably will. Hopefully farmers will be happier with the EU deal.

Today I've seen:

- this is a climb down by Trump
- this is a capitulation by Starmer
- the Mail saying this was 'made by Brexit' (asinine beyond words)

Starmer's avoided a drive by shooting even though he's negotiated a deal that's worse than the WTO terms still in place last year.
But Trump coming to the table at all is unexpected because of dire economic figures and the RoW moving on at breakneck speed without America.

Stand down, David Henig, Jonathan Portes, Dmitri Grozoubinski and the rest of the experts. A guy with a social media profile has spoken.

I remember reading some rubbish he posted about railways. File under "travels by train, therefore expert".

What does RoW stand for, please?

Can we all use acronyms instead of words, now?

Shouldn't that be RotW?

RotW?
No internal logic here...

I tend to agree with The Guardian style book. Never use an acronym unless you wrote it out in full earlier in the piece. Consideration for the reader, innit?
