Planning reform was once championed by Robert Jenrick, whose white paper led by Jack Airey acknowledged the brutal reality of land economics. Labour eventually embraced some form of it.

As founder of Labour YIMBY, I battled against “Developer’s Charter” smears and pushed planning reform as a growth strategy. Rachel Reeves echoed that message, until Labour pulled the plug. A government minister recently called the U-turn on the Planning and Infrastructure Bill a “win-win,” just days after appearing at a CPRE event. CPRE, whose alumni include suspended MP Chris Hinchliff, would rather protect hedgerows than house young families.

Hinchliff, a self-professed socialist darling of the progressive vegetable lobby, had just published an article calling for Labour to stand up to “vested interests.” Yet he championed more power for unaccountable quangos like Natural England, who is now proposed to wield veto power through new “Environmental Delivery Plans.” This is governance by unelected lawyers and activist bureaucrats. Britain is no longer governed by the rule of law, but by the rule of lawyers, who lick their lips at the prospect of juicy high-cost judicial reviews.

Labour had a chance to change Britain. But they blew it.

I spent years fighting the Corbynistas, only for Starmer to reward them with cabinet seats. Labour today rewards rebels and punishes loyalists. It’s no longer a vehicle for aspirational working people. For we are the PIP and asylum seeker PAYEpigs. Instead, it appears more homely for a self-satisfied privileged elite who’ve never had to budget for a nursery bill, fight a hundred hours a week to pay a mortgage, or defend their beliefs against anti-white smears.

Who are the Corbyn supporters in the Cabinet? Who are these anti-white smearers we're all worried about? What does he want Labour to do about asylum seekers?

Housing affordability has improved under Labour, whatever else has or hasn't.

I hope I am wrong, but every last flicker of hope has been all but extinguished in Labour’s YIMBY movement. Yet those ideas still live on in the Conservatives. Conservative YIMBY has had more impact in its fledgling few weeks and months, pushing more amendments and policy ideas

Natural England, if the Government wants it to be light touch, will likely be light touch. See eg Ofwat, which till recently (with damaging consequences) kept bills down because that's what the Government wanted.

As for the piece on Conservative Home the Tories would often think aloud but they never did anything, levelling up was suppose to park tanks on Labour’s lawns but it became a byword for corruption.

Grove’s renters rights bill was a big thing but his own party ditched it as soon as they could, several LGBTQ+ organisations celebrated the announcement on gay conversion therapy being outlawed when it made the Queens speech, it’s still not been and the fact it was the Queen tells you it’s a few years back now.

They were good at telling us what they would do, they were very poor at delivering. Labour should be pursuing the ban on this conversion and I will give them their government period as they had it in their manifesto. I do think after the Trans stuff it would be good for the government to offer it up as a branch to our community.

I think some ministers and MPs didn’t cover themselves in much glory when the high court made its statement.

What was the Tory position on the WFA, Chris? Labour have at least saved something. The Tories wanted it restored to all.

Community cohesion is collapsing. One local school now reports that none of its pupils speak English as a first language. Is that integration? Or is it a sign multiculturalism has failed

Or a sign that these kids are bilingual, perhaps? This isn't even new in Tower Hamlets, which as he surely knows has been getting very good school results. How does that happen if the kids are all sat around in some sort of un-British bubble?

Intriguing that working class ambition only seems to go as far as being some to deride the Labour Party because if you mention a working class person going to University that is automatically not something to be praised.
