Flip it round. 30 years ago, far left meant living off grid and planning to kill everyone with a double barrelled surname. Now it means showing any sort of empathy for your fellow human beings.

And now the likes of Ken Clarke, Oliver "Darkies, drugs and discos" Letwin, and Sir Roger Gale are considered card-carrying commies.

David Gauke, Robert Buckland and Dominic Grieve, all retired from the frontline, are about the only ones younger than Ken Clarke that I can think of. And Grive is 69 years old.

There's a sane conservative on Bluesky called John Oxley. Don't know if he's looking to become an MP, but I wouldn't fancy his chances of selection against an embryonic Katie Lamm.

Went to see Nuremberg and was struck as to how nearer today’s Tories are to the political cynicism of Goering than David Maxwell Fyfe (a nicely played supporting role from Richard E Grant).

Ben Habib gets another councillor.

A City of Doncaster councillor who quit Reform UK over "instability" and "internal infighting" has joined a new party.

Christopher Marriott, who represents the Armthorpe ward, is the city's second councillor to move from Reform UK to Advance UK after Nicola Brown defected in December.

Marriott said Reform UK had become "overly centred" on party leader Nigel Farage, whose leadership had "shifted focus away from key areas like Doncaster despite the party's strong performance there"...
