Encouragingly, quite a few people on Bluesky are pushing back against the idea that Starmer "endorsed" the attacks.

The USA had three possible bases to launch their B-2s from, in order of ease for the mission these were: Diego Garcia, the UK and Missouri. The first two would require permission from the UK government, the fact that the Americans used Missouri, the most logistically challenging location, is a strong indicator that Starmer said no.

Over on Labour's Future Phil woodford thinks this shows Starmer has a man buffeted by events.

Last week at the G7, Starmer pushed de-escalation and bizarrely claimed Trump was on board, despite the US president’s contrary pronouncements and the stark warnings of other leaders such as Merz.
Now, he has nothing to say apart from effectively endorsing Washington’s demands of Tehran.
While I completely accept there are no easy options for the Labour government here in a world where we need constructive relations with the US, isn’t the overall impression of Starmer one of a man buffeted by events?
