Another political Titan, with a Cabinet post in Nottinghamshire. Struggling with what ought to be a bread and butter issue right up Reform's street- investment in a prominent road.

Usual high standard of local paper comments about how unfair this all is, because no newly elected politician would know. He's been there the best part of 8 weeks. And it's the sort of issue you'd prep on just if you were a candidate, you'd think. Has he done any work on it with Central Government or the Combined Authority? When the County Council can't be arsed, money has a habit of going elsewhere. I've got a Tory-led council in my county. I am considerably more confident that this sort of work will get done here than I am about Reform-led Worcestershire next door.

And none of this chaos will affect their popularity in the slightest because they're just a bunch of honest men doing their best in a world of slick careerist politicians and government officials trying to do them down.

Good luck, Crabbs - you're going to need it. Will you end up more messed up than Lincolnshire will?

In a way, it's probably a good thing Reform is running councils because when it eventually falls to bits, no amount of bullshit by Farage will hide the inevitable mess and maybe - just maybe - folk will say "well, if they couldn't run a council they certainly couldn't run the country" and finally, they will be seen for what they are.

More likely to motivate voters who hate Farage and his party then those that vote for them conducting an audit.

Don't you think it'll get the same press as Brexit:
* A small core of Trussites who privately insist - best run council ever.
* A wider louder mob of Faragebots who insist - would have bene the best council, except for the obstructive alliance Libs, DEIs, pooves, muzzies, HR ladies, rear admirals, queer admirals, trades unions, Wedgewood Benn....
* An will be largely ignored by the main circulation newspapers - or countered by "Yeah, but Birmingham - bin bags".
